What is the purpose, future prospects and policies of this planned educational platform? How does it compare with JMOOC? Who are the target users?

The similarity with JMOOC is in the way courses are delivered according to the objectives of each academic institution. The difference is that, as a project led by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), courses and programs can be shared among JV-Campus participants through the “Strategic Package Box”. In addition, online social events such as virtual study abroad fairs can be hosted.

Please let us know the expected length and duration of course contents, as well as the languages to be provided.

Course lectures are expected to be both single-unit and single-session. Contents will be both in English and Japanese.

How does the credit transfer system work with the other universities? How fast will coordination proceed between universities?

Under consideration is for the “Strategic Package Box” to have participants receive credits from the university they belong to. While for the “Individual Institution Box”, this will depend on the institution offering the course. Coordination period between universities will depend on the nature of the course or program.

Is there a fee for posting content and viewing content? If so, when does it start?

It will be free of charge until March 2024 during which it is subsidized by the Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). After March 2024, we are considering charging for services.

Paypal accounts or credit cards seem to be required for payment transactions. Will it be correct to assume that specific monetary transactions will take place between the collection agencies contracted by the University of Tsukuba and the participating universities?

TBA. Currently under discussion.

Can JV-Campus offer both international-related courses in English for international students as well as general courses in Japanese for the domestic market?

It’s possible. Japanese-only lectures are also accepted. The “Individual Institution Box” is available to enable proactive content delivery according to each institution’s policies and needs.

Will the JV-Campus secretariat be responsible for setting courses in the “Strategic Package Box”?
