2024 Online Japanese Language Program

This short-term intensive online program is offered during overseas universities' summer vacation (June-August). Veteran Japanese language instructors offer small-group classes for undergraduate and graduate students studying Japanese overseas. The classes are designed for students who have completed the introductory level of Japanese, are physically unable to travel to Japan, or wish to improve their Japanese language skills, especially before coming to Japan to study. SWU students also participate in the online classes as "Nihongo Supporters" to help students practice conversations and comment on presentations. Those who have completed the program will receive an official certificate and a transcript with SWU credits.

Showa Women’s University (SWU) launched a new short-term concentrated ONLINE language program for those who want to enhance their Japanese proficiency before an actual study abroad in 2023. SWU will be offering the program again in 2024 with minor revisions on class hours and offering dates to meet the requests from international students.

SWU is known for offering a communication-based Japanese language program for non-degree semester study abroad students with much experience in continuing semester program offerings online during the COVID-19 outbreak.
