2025 Preparation Course for BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test Ⅰ(on-demand course)

This course is aimed at learners of the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test sponsored by the Japan Kanji Proficiency Test Association. This is a test preparation video course that deals with the outline explanation of the test, the tendency of questions, and the solution method. The course consists of 11 lectures including an orientation, 9 types of BJT questions (summary of each question and 5 exercises), and a guidance on preparing for the exam. The learner first solves the questions, followed by the instructor explains, and at the end of each section you will try the same questions. Not only will you learn the format of the questions and learn the key points for solving them, but it will also help you improve your overall Japanese language skills, including the vocabulary, grammar, and culture used in business situations. Both first-time test takers and those who have taken the test in the past are welcome to attend.

◆ Lesson objectives:
1) Learn the outline and question format of each section of the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test by watching the video.
2) Repeat the exercises and get high results in the actual BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test.

◆ Class format and assignments:
① Orientation video distribution (about 15 minutes)
② Practice 9 types of BJT problems (summary of each problem and 5 practice problems) (study time about 60 minutes x 9 times)
③Preparation video delivery (about 15 minutes)
④ Submission of completion report “What you learned through the course” (about 400 words)

◆ Conditions for Certificate Issuance:Certificate of Completion will be issued by Toyo University.
Completion of all assignments (1) to (4) by the end of the course period.

◆ Fees:
2,200 yen
*Toyo Univ. Students and Students from university that have been incorporate into the INTER-UNIVERSITY EXCHANGE PROJECT is FREE.

Thursday, May 22, to Sunday, August 31, 2025

◆Application Period:
Friday, April 25 to Thursday, July 31, 2025

    Prof. Ushikubo graduated from Dokkyo University. He learned Japanese language education in the doctoral program at Waseda University and got a Ph.D. (Japanese Language Education). He worked as a deputy chief instructor at an overseas educational institution (Waseda Education Thailand). After returning to Japan, he kept pursuing a career in language education, working as a research assistant at Waseda University and a lecturer at the Kwansei Gakuin University. He is currently teaching Japanese at the Center for Global Education and Exchange, Toyo University. His specialty is qualitative data analysis, teacher research, and classroom research.

    Graduate of the Japanese Language Program at the College of Foreign Languages of the Ocean University of China. Completed the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Humanities, Kobe University.Assistant at the University of Hamburg (Germany) and Kobe University. Part-time and full-time Lecturer at Kobe Design University and Japan University of Economics. Currently a Lecturer at Toyo University. Doctor Chen’s research covers modern Japanese grammar, Japanese language education, Japanese linguistics, as well as corpus linguistics. Takes special interest in sentence-final markers and Chinese-related lexicon in modern Japanese. Building on her theoretical knowledge of Japanese grammar and vocabulary, as well as her own learning experience, the lecturer will offer hints how to improve your Japanese skills.

    Career

    Graduated from the Faculty of Letters, Kobe University, with a degree in Humanities.

    Completed both the Master’s and Doctoral programs at the Graduate School of Humanities, Kobe University, and holds a Ph.D. in Literature.

    After serving as an assistant at the University of Hamburg in Germany, a part-time lecturer at Ryukoku University and Japan University of Economics, a full-time lecturer at the latter, and a specially appointed assistant professor at the Global Education Center at Kobe University, he currently holds his present position.

    His areas of expertise include Japanese grammar and Japanese language education.

・ Those who have Japanese ability equivalent to N2 (JLPT) or higher
*We highly welcome students from overseas countries and regions.
・Those who can submit the assignments.
・Those who can take the BEVI after taking the course.
・Those who can watch all lessons’ videos.
