Multilingual Tandem Online Exchange Event

Direct communication with native speakers through so-called tandem language exchanges is considered highly important and effective for language learning. In practice, however, many students struggle to find opportunities for such exchanges, as they often do not know how to meet international students from countries where their target language is spoken or how to establish contact with them. To address this issue, this project aims to create points of contact between students learning various languages and international students who are native speakers of those languages. As a first step, an online exchange event was organized. Using Zoom, breakout rooms are set up by language, where participants engage in conversation for approximately one hour using both the target language and Japanese. After the event, participants are encouraged to exchange contact information and, if they wish, continue their interaction as tandem partners.
