Congratulations to NTU alumna Ling Yu (Wang Meiqin) for being awarded the 2025 Newman Prize for Chinese Literature. This prize, established in 2008, is the first major award in the U.S. specifically for Chinese-language literature. It is awarded every two years to recognize outstanding achievements in prose or poetry that explore the human spirit and is open to any author writing in Chinese. Cosima Bruno, a professor at University of London, praised Ling Yu’s poetry for its lyrical quality and freedom from constraints, skillfully blending contemporary themes with personal experiences while drawing on classical Chinese poetry.
