About the Institute for International Business Communication (IIBC)

We continue our dedication to the "globalization of people and businesses."

The Institute for International Business Communication (IIBC) is engaged in activities from a global perspective with the philosophy of promoting the "globalization of people and businesses." At the center of our activities is TOEIC Program, which was launched in Japan in 1979. Today, this program— the world's universal measure of skills in English as a second language— is accepted by nearly 160 countries worldwide, and plays a key role in promoting communication in English.

It will be so wonderful if we Japanese could acquire a more global perspective, develop true communication skills, and therefore set a good example on the global stage and contribute to human happiness, prosperity and peace. In the hope of helping to improve English communication skills, and to train and develop globally competent people, IIBC will continue to engage in a wide range of activities, capitalizing on the know-how and experience we have gained since the founding of our organization, thus contributing to the globalization of people and businesses.

IIBC conducts a wide range of initiatives, centered on the TOEIC® Program.

About the TOEIC Program
The TOEIC Program is a comprehensive assessment program designed to measure the four English-language skills—listening, reading, speaking, and writing—based on a globally recognized standard. There are two types of tests, tailored to different purposes and proficiency levels: TOEIC Tests and TOEIC Bridge Tests. Both assess all four skills, but the tests are administered in two parts: L&R (Listening & Reading) and S&W (Speaking & Writing).

TOEIC Tests
Globally recognized tests that measure practical English skills used in everyday life and global business environments.
- TOEIC Listening & Reading Test
- TOEIC Speaking & Writing Tests

TOEIC Bridge Tests
Globally recognized tests designed for beginner to intermediate learners, measuring practical English skills used in everyday life.
- TOEIC Bridge Listening & Reading Tests
- TOEIC Bridge Speaking & Writing Tests

All tests are developed under strict quality control by ETS, the world’s largest nonprofit test development organization. By maintaining consistent and reliable scoring standards, the tests have earned a high level of trust. Their reliable scores are widely used around the world for various purposes, including corporate recruitment and promotion, university admissions, credit recognition, training evaluation, and individual learning.
