Japan Virtual Campus (JV-Campus) Pre-launches
Two “Microcredential Series” Programs

Quality-assured learning to cultivate deep understanding of Japanese culture and society,
with digital badges issued in Open Badges 3.0 standard for learning credentials

JV-Campus (Japan Virtual Campus), an international educational platform originating from Japan, has launched the first two e-learning programs in its Microcredential Series, “a new system for visualizing and credentialing learning.” These programs are composed of university-level educational content from 14 Japanese universities and provide opportunities to systematically acquire broad knowledge in a short period, covering both advanced literacy required for international professionals and liberal arts education that cultivates deep insight and multifaceted perspectives.

About JV-Campus Microcredential Series

A New Learning Credential System

Microcredentials are “a new system for credentialing what has been learned and acquired.” The two e-learning programs pre-launched in the JV-Campus Microcredential Series have been published after undergoing internal quality assurance by the JV-Campus Operating Committee and external quality assurance by the Japan Microcredential Organization Preparatory Committee, ensuring the reliability of the educational content.

Upon completion of these programs, learners receive learning credentials in the form of digital badges compliant with the global technical standard “Open Badges 3.0.” Using these digital badges, participants can create their own digital portfolios within JV-Campus and use them as tools to present their learning history and profiles in situations such as study abroad, internships, job hunting, and career advancement.

Details of Pre-launched Programs

1

Literacy of Contemporary Japanese Society

This program aims to understand contemporary Japanese social conditions from three perspectives: “cultural and social background,” “community challenges,” and “Japan in the world,” and to acquire foundational knowledge about various research findings and specific social practices related to Japanese society.

2

Literacy of Traditional Japanese Culture and Thought

This program aims to understand Japanese culture from multifaceted perspectives such as “religion, philosophy, martial arts, performing arts, literature, and fine arts,” and to acquire foundational knowledge about Japanese culture through diverse lectures covering traditional culture and philosophy to physical culture and performing arts.

These programs aim to help learners worldwide understand the multifaceted values of Japan and acquire the liberal arts education and advanced literacy required as international professionals. We expect that completion of these programs will become a new step toward career development through learning.
