Public History of Intercultural Exchanges
The program aims to provide an opportunity for participants to participate in international exchange among local citizens and experience the historical practice of recording that exchange. The city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA, has hosted the Sakura Festival every year since 1998, and has continued to promote international exchange. In this program, participants will collaborate with the organizer, the Capstone International Center at the University of Alabama, to conduct online interviews with people involved in international exchange, particularly the Sakura Festival, and to dig up historical documents. Furthermore, participants will collaborate with students from the University of Alabama to develop new content for the festival online, thereby designing international exchange.
