Multicultural Co-learning in Taiwan :Solutions to Overtourism in Jiufen Region

Overtourism in the Jiufen area of Taiwan will be addressed as a key social issue. Through on-site field research in and around the region, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the causes and impacts of overtourism. Working in mixed teams with Taiwanese students, participants will collaborate with local businesses, government officials, and related organizations to develop proposals for new tourism routes that both alleviate congestion and stimulate the local economy. By analyzing tourists’ motivations and incorporating the perspectives of local residents, the project aims to create sustainable tour packages that balance visitor satisfaction, environmental conservation, and the well-being of the local community.
