Lesson Purpose

In this course, we will move away from Japanese language textbooks and investigate how the language is used in modern-day Japanese society by looking at various themes.
This content is intended to help improve your Japanese skills, deepen your understanding of Japan, and increase your awareness of your own language and culture. It includes videos on various themes, comprehension questions, themes for reflection, and vocabulary-building activities. Comparing these elements with your own language and culture will broaden your perspective on Japanese language and communication.

How to Proceed with the Lesson

Structure: 1. Video viewing (6-9 minutes) 2. Comprehension questions (5 questions) 3. Tasks: Reflective Themes 4. Activity (Collect Japanese Vocabulary / Create with Japanese)

In this course, we will first present a video to Japanese language learners. The videos are available with English subtitles, Japanese subtitles, and Japanese subtitles with furigana. You can choose the subtitles based on the learners’ levels. Afterward, comprehension questions will be provided to test their understanding of the video. The tasks can be used for both preparation and review, and they can also serve as discussion topics or homework. This content can be widely applied in both private lessons and group lessons.

You can check all 15 chapter video titles.

Chapter 2, "Japanese Numbers," introduces the features of Japanese counters and number mnemonics.

You can also use the analysis results to create fill-in-the-blank and descriptive questions, which can then be combined to create a test.

How to Use

1) Prepare your text.
2) Log in, click on “Text Analysis,” paste in your prepared text, and run the analysis.
3) The vocabulary level of the text will be displayed visually.
4) Create fill-in-the-blank and write-in questions based on the analysis results.
5) Combine the questions as needed and distribute them to your learners.

Referring to the "Database for Japanese learner's dictionaries" visualizes expression levels.
