Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2021, Yamanashi Gakuin endeavors to foster students with an international mindset who are capable of positively contributing to global society. In addition to the International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA), which is taught in English, Yamanashi Gakuin University (YGU) offers undergraduate programs in its Faculties of Law, Business, Health and Nutrition, and Sports Science, taught in Japanese. It also boasts a Graduate School of Social Sciences, again taught in Japanese.

The Open University of Japan (OUJ) was founded in 1983 by the Open University of Japan Foundation. It was established under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. It is an accredited “correspondence university” with the approval of MEXT.

Oita University was founded in 1949, and after merging with Oita Medical University in 2003, is now a general university with 5 faculties and 5 graduate schools. The Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Science and Technology celebrated its 100th anniversary, and the Faculty of Science and Technology will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022, steadily building up its history as a regional (intellectual) centre in Oita. We will continue to evolve with the aim of becoming a university that can contribute not only as a core centre for regional development, but also to solving global issues.
