In order for robots to take an active part in a human living environment, they must be able to adapt flexibly to that environment. We will introduce an attempt to realize this ability to adapt through mechanisms. Because such an ability requires information processing, we tend to think that it can only be realized by computers, but there are some things that can be achieved with mechanisms, and there are things that cannot be achieved without some kind of contrivance with mechanisms when mutual interaction with the force of the environment is required. We will introduce mechanisms that can flexibly respond to such an environment.
