1. Program purpose
To learn how to speak and have conversations in Japanese, and to improve participants’ Japanese language proficiency.

2. Program contents
●Japanese Language Class(20 units):
We offer 5 different levels of courses: Introductory①、②、N4、N3、N2
●Special Lectures / Japanese Conversation Class(5 units):

5 units of Japanese-conducted special lectures that deal with Japan/Nagasaki.

5 units (in total) of English-conducted special lectures that deal with Japan/Nagasaki and Japanese conversation practice classes.

【Requirements】

ⅰ)Applicants must be enrolled at overseas universities

ⅱ)Applicants must have an environment to attend the online classes using ZOOM audio and video. For those who wish to check the ZOOM connection with us before the program starts, you can try and check the connection in between 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on December 10 (Japan time).

Please note that your attendance cannot be counted as attended if you attend WITHOUT turning on the camera during the class.

ⅲ)Applicants must have Language Proficiency as below:

To have sufficient Japanese language for the course you wish to take. Also for the Introductory①、Introductory② and N4 level courses, applicants are required to have English language sufficiency.

ⅳ)Applicants must prepare the designated text book and make sure to have it before the class

starts. Please order the text book right after you are accepted to the program.

Evaluation method

*The figure of time on the schedule is Japan time

*Participants are required to purchase designated textbooks

*Certificate of Completion will be issued for those who attend the whole program, from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony, without any absence nor late attendance.

ⅰ)Introductory ①

This course is for those who have never studied Japanese before.

Course material:『Weekly J for Starters 1』Lesson 1~10

(You will learn using the Roman alphabet. You do not learn Hiragana, the Japanese alphabet.)

WEEKLY J for Starters

ⅱ)Introductory ②

This course is for those who can read Hiragana and Katakana but bearly had studied Japanese.

Course material:『Marugoto Starter (A1) Rikai』Lesson3~12

(You will learn using Hiragana. Participants are required to know how to read/write Hiragana)

ⅲ)N4 Level Course

This class is for those who have N4 or equivalent level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Course material:『Marugoto Elementary 2 (A2) Rikai』Lesson1~10

Special notes

  1. Application (On-line

Please complete the online application by June 10, 2021(Japan time).

The applicant is required to ;

  1. be nominated by his/her home university. Applicant’s home university must fill the designated Nomination Sheet, which is downloadable at our website, and send it to us at ryugaku_shien@ml.nagasaki-u.ac.jp. If there is more than one applicant for one course level,

please provide the recommendation order on the Nomination Sheet.

  1. submit the Certificate of Enrollment (in English), which is issued by his/her home university,

through the online application.

 

  1. Participant Selection

The selection result will be informed to the applicant’s home university via email by June 17.

 

※If the number of applicants for a course is less than 10, the applicable course will not be offered.

If the number of applicants for a course doubles its capacity, we may offer two classes for the applicable course.

※The program will be canceled if the number of applicants for the program is less than 10.

※If the number of applicants exceeds the program capacity, we select participants based on the recommendation order submitted by the applicant’s home university.
