Department of Global Japanese Studies Symposium“Terroir Cheese as a Commons Supporting Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development in Japan and France”

This is an edited introduction to the symposium "Terroir Cheese as a Commons Supporting Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development in Japan and France" held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, jointly organized by the Department of Global Japanese Studies, Faculty of Language Studies, Teikyo University, and the Okinaga Research Institute, Teikyo University.
Dairy farming and cheese production in the mountainous regions of Europe are important tourism resources that combine landscapes and traditional food culture and are central to the local economy. The reports of the five experts at this symposium will provide a clear understanding of how food and agriculture can be used to promote regional development in France and Japan.
