How to Come Up With a Novel and Appealing Manga Plan

One of the reasons behind the popularity of manga as source materials for films and dramas lies in the novel and appealing settings, worldviews, and characters. In this course, we will focus on the "logline" which Kyoto Seika University has studied for years as part of what makes a manga appealing, and explain techniques to come up with and construct the sort of settings, worldviews, and characters that will make readers pick up and read the manga. The student will also be introduced to basic training that will help them acquire the skills to plan out appealing manga settings using these techniques

  • Be able to explain what makes a manga outlines and setting appealing to readers
  • Be able to explain the theory of combining novel, unprecedented ideas with standerd settings that will be familiar and easily digested by readers
  • Be able to take past examples of appealing hit manga titles and verbalize to explain the reasons why they became hits by taking apart and analyzing their content
