East Asia Joint Research Forum for Young Researchers
Graduate students specializing in Japanese studies (mainly in the humanities) from East Asia's University of Tsukuba (Japan), Beijing Foreign Studies University (China), Korea University (Korea), and National Chengchi University (Taiwan), as well as from Southeast Asia, will discuss among participants how their own research addresses social issues. By sharing the challenges and potential of Japanese studies faced by the regions of the participating universities among the participants, the goal is to become aware of the future direction of Japanese studies and furthermore to consider together ways to advance their own careers. Also, by interacting with students from the University of Malaya and Malaysian branch campuses, I learn about the multicultural situation in Southeast Asia and the areas of interest in Japanese studies within that context, allowing me to reflect on the nature of global Japanese studies and career paths.
