Taiwan and Southeast Asian Arts

Generally the Southeast Asian culture possible to see as a diversity historical complex of the local pre-history culture, the Indian influenced culture, the Chinese influenced culture, the Islamic influenced culture and the European influenced culture. Among them the Indian influenced culture had not reached to the Philippine, and Austronesian peoples stayed in large part of the archipelago area. In this point of view, culture and history of Taiwan has very closed relation with Southeast Asia, and much number of scholars, included officials of ASEAN, are thinking Taiwan is involved in Southeast Asian area. In this course it will be showed total of the cultural and historical relation of Taiwan and Southeast Asia with view of various evidences; architecture (fortification, city, building, house), household goods (textile, ceramics etc.), performing arts, religious remains (megalithic), and cultural elements (life style and languages).
