Basic Law on dementia in Japan
In Japan, ahead of the rest of the world, the Basic Law for the Realisation of a Dementia-Friendly Society was enacted on 1 January 2024 with the aim of promoting the creation of a vibrant society in which each and every citizen, including people with dementia, can fully demonstrate their individuality and abilities, and live together in mutual support and respect for each other’s personalities and individuality. This article explains this law.
