Immersive Marine Sustainability Education! NTU College of International Studies and the Ocean Affairs Council join forces to host 70 participants from 25 countries for in-depth exploration of Keelung's fishing villages and the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology.
Organized by the National Taiwan University (NTU) International College and the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST) with support from the Ocean Affairs Council, the “Ocean Connections: Science × Culture × Community” immersive program brought together nearly 70 students from over 25 countries to foster cross-cultural dialogue on marine sustainability. Designed by NTU’s Master’s Program in Biodiversity, the two-day event engaged participants in citizen science workshops—such as seaweed diversity and coral watching—alongside cultural experiences at the Keelung Miaokou Night Market and local fishing villages, where they explored the intersection of ecological practices and maritime traditions. By integrating hands-on learning with community interaction, the program aimed to cultivate future leaders capable of developing interdisciplinary solutions for global ocean challenges while strengthening international partnerships and environmental responsibility.
