What Is a Database?

A database is an information system by which many users can store, share and search data. In this lecture, you will learn about relational databases, the main method of implementing databases. In a relational database, data is managed in tables called relations, and searches are performed as operations defined for those relations. As an introduction to relational databases, this lecture gives an overview of what data and information are , and how relational databases allow users to share interpretation for collected data.
