Perspectives of Technologies for Installing Photovoltaics in Land Transportation Including Vehicle-Integrated Photovoltaics in Japan

This lecture will introduce technical issues and solutions related to electrification of land transportation, which is essential to achieving carbon neutrality. Focusing particularly on photovoltaic power generation, this lecture will introduce the status of Japanese technological development regarding the installation of solar cells in land transportation and vehicles. The lecture will explain that vehicles equipped with solar cells can be used as mobile storage batteries, which will not only lead to a reduction in the amount of electricity purchased for residential use, but will also contribute to strengthening disaster resilience, since electricity can be used even during power outages due to disasters, etc.
